a note from Pastor Ernie
Hello Wesley,
Sunday, we had the privilege of hearing from John the Baptist. I love this guy. He comes out of the woods all homeless looking and acting crazy, wild hair and wild ideas. He declares Jesus as the “Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.” And he introduces to any who will listen that Jesus is the Messiah. The reference is to the Passover Lamb in Exodus. God instructs his chosen people to put the blood of the sacrificial lamb over the doorpost of their homes so that the angel of death might pass over their home. In the same way, it is by the blood of Jesus that death loses its grip over believers. Death has no power over us because we have certainty of eternity.

I love that God sends someone like John to announce this. A man with no education, does not even have a home, eats locusts off the tree branch is chosen by God to prepare the way for the savior of the world. The educated have trouble with him. People in positions of power and authority have trouble with him. I do wonder if he had gone to Seminary if people in these positions would have listened. I think they would have pretended to listen, not much more.

We all need to be careful of the things that get in the way of hearing the truth from God. Sometimes it might be our intellect, others our emotions. Most of the time it is some tradition or something we are protecting that really does not need protecting.
I hope and pray you all have a great week.

I love being your pastor,
Ernie

Ministry Highlights

HABANA HEALTH CARE MINISTRY

Last Saturday we had a good visit with our friends at Habana Health Care! Jeff Davis led us in singing and gave a devotion on the 40 days after the Resurrection. Becky Ritz brought some homemade cupcakes which they always enjoy. We worked on our color pages and decorated our centerpieces for Spring. Towards the end of the art project, a few of us visited private rooms of friends no longer able to join us and made a few new friends along the way. Thank you to Jan Grover, Renee Kincaid, Becky Ritz, Jeff and Terri Davis for making the time to be present.

We go to Habana Health Care the last Saturday of each month from 2:30 to 3:30 (sometimes we stay later). Volunteers are always welcome and needed! The residents always enjoy the time we spend with them and the volunteers are blessed even more! Contact Terri Davis in the church office if interested in getting involved.
Click button below for a short video of the afternoon!
WE ARE COLLECTING OLD MAGAZINES FOR HABANA!
PLEASE LEAVE ON MARKED SHELF IN COPY ROOM.
Ladies home and fashion magazines, People Magazine, Men's sports, etc.
It does not matter if they are out of date.
The residents enjoy reading.

CORNERSTONE WONDERWALK

The Wonderwalk was a great success last Saturday!
The Wesley walkers raised over $13K for a great cause!
This event raises scholarship funds that provide life-changing opportunities
like quality early childhood education and nutritious food to
economically disadvantaged children.
$113k + was raised by all participants!! Praise God!!!
Thank You to all who participated and/or supported a walker!

WESLEY BAKERS

Thank you to the following ladies who put their time and enjoyment into making the chocolate chip cookies 🍪 for all Wesley walking participants in the 4/27/24 Wonder Walk:
Nancy Klein; Kathy Newland; Karen Marotz; Sue Ann Korsberg; Becky Ritz; and Louise Coster.
Thank you also to Jean Rowe who made a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies and brought them into church to be combined with those made at church.
Terri, thank you for your art 🎨 work. Loved the cookie bakers.

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY

Promiseland had so much fun last week meeting Punchinello and his village of Wemmicks in Max Lucado's book "You are Special" that they just had to share it with the congregation last Sunday. So our own little Wemicks danced around placing dots and stars on the congregation just like the Wemicks did in the story.
You were created by God, he truly created you differently but perfectly.

It’s hard to believe that we are already winding down on this school year…We continue to work hard to serve the community and these kids. We are now at 234 children per week. While we are thrilled to be able to help so many kids in need, it does require more resources; mainly food and monetary donations.

We hope you will consider helping us reach this year’s finish line. You can pick up one or more of the items listed below or simply note a portion of your giving to PAS…. either way, we are eternally grateful for your continued prayers and support of our ministry.
 Juice boxes or pouches
 Applesauce or fruit cups – small individual cups
 Nature’s bakery fig bars
 Peanut Butter Crackers

You can bring the items to the church during normal business hours or of course bring with you on Sunday to church. If needed, you can reach out to Jamie directly to arrange a pick up at 813-967-3800 or [email protected]

We couldn’t do this without each and every one of you and we are grateful
for your continued support. Please be in prayer for all the Pack-a-Sack children and in prayer for our current needs.

Coffee with Ernie
This week Pastor Ernie talked about there really is no excuse not to acknowledge God. God made the world in such a way so that we would know there is a God who created this beautiful universe. You can listen to Coffee with Ernie every Tuesday morning on Facebook at 7:30am (give or take) or you can watch later. Click link below for the most recent episode.

A Prayer for National Day of Prayer 2024

Jesus, we profess our faith in You. You are the
Light of the world, and in You there is no
darkness. For You are our lamp, O LORD, and
our God who lights our darkness. Forgive us for
fearing and focusing on the darkness around us
instead of being filled with faith and shining like
the city on a hill You have called us to be.
Forgive us for the times when we have been the
absence of light, allowing darkness to dwell in
America. Lead us forward to dispel the darkness
and bring light throughout the Church, Family,
Education, Business, Military, Government, and
Arts, Entertainment, and Media.

We are saved by grace through faith, released
from the darkness that once held us captive and
now free to walk in the newness of life in You.
Light dispels darkness and exposes what is
hidden and wicked, so we commit to rise and
shine! For by You, Lord, we can take courage to
run against the enemy, and by our God we can
fight the good fight and keep the faith as living
lampstands in our communities and country.
We fear no evil for You are with us.

Lord, Your way is perfect, You lead us on paths
of righteousness for Your name's sake. Your
Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our
path. Your Word is Truth, instructing and
inspiring us to live in the abundant life You gave
when You saved us from the death and
destruction of the enemy. Fill us with Truth as
we read, study, and live Your Word.

God, You are a shield for all those who take
refuge in You. As we abide in You and Your
Word abides in us, we take up our shield of
faith and the sword of the Spirit which is the
Word of God and run boldly into the darkness
to Lift Up the Word and Light Up the World!
In the Mighty name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

"The Alpha and Omega"
Revelation 1:8

10:00 am Sunday Worship Service
Pastor Ernie Post

Please help the church save money on paper and printing by checking in virtually on Sunday Service and receiving a bulletin. The QR code will be posted on the outside and inside of sanctuary entries, in the pews, and at the information desk. Give it a try and see if it works for you. Paper bulletins will still be available if preferred.

*Please note: When registering for check in, it is only required to input one contact - cell phone OR email (although both are preferred.) All other requests are optional and can be bypassed by simply pressing the done button.

Additional Note: The bulletin can also be found on the Church website (https://wesleymemorial.net/bulletin/) in the CONNECT drop down menu . It is updated every week by the end of Thursday for the following Sunday.

If your phone is not pulling up current bulletin via the QR code on Sunday, it is likely you need to clear your cache (search history). To do this, open your search app, tap the three dot bar at bottom, tap history, then clear browsing data. Make sure cookies and site data has a check to the right as well as cached images and files. Then at bottom click "clear browsing data". Refer to google as some phones may differ. It is a good idea to clear the cache on your phone occasionally to keep your phone operating at its best.

*******Even if you prefer a paper bulletin, you can still sign in online in lieu of using a connect card. That still helps the church with printing costs.*********
